In term of general design and features, Asus Eee PC 1000 is not much a different compared with previous Eee PC 901. As a matter of fact, if you looked into in more details, you'll notice that both models have similar metallic glossy hinges and curvy edge lid. Currently Asus Eee PC 1000 released only one type of colour, that is glossy black, but it won't be too surprise to see more colours will be available in the future.
Asus Eee PC 1000 is by far the largest netbook currently in the market, measured at 225 x 170 x 20mm thick. The overall dimensions of Eee PC 1000 are slightly larger than the MSI Wind netbook, but despite its size, it is still considered to be quite portable. The only setback of Eee PC 1000 I can notice is its own weight. It weighs about 1.45kg with battery in it, without the battery, it weigh 1.10kg.
The general keyboard layout of Asus Eee PC 1000 is good. But we noticed that there is some minor defect. First we notice is the keyboard look rather clumsy. Secondly, the size of the "shift" key at the right hand side looks slightly small compared to the other keys within the keyboard.
The mouse track pad of Asus Eee PC 1000 supports multi-touch signals via movement inputs. You can easily use two fingers to scroll horizontally or vertically through your files, multimedia or photos. This feature is great for web surfing, and can really make life a lot easier.
As an overall verdict, Asus Eee PC 1000 is a great device for you to manage your daily tasks easily and efficiently. You can get a huge capacity and pay less if you choose the Windows XP installed model. This series of Asus Eee netbook is definitely excelling all other rival netbooks in the market.
